He, Huaying

Huaying He was born in a loving family in Shanghai, China. With the suggestions from her engineer parents, she chose nursing as her lifelong career. Helping and healing patients make her fulfilled and feel treasured. However, the dream of becoming an artist was something she had longed for since childhood. Having witnessed the joys and sorrows, resilience and vitality, living and death, she picked up her paintbrush to depict reality and the world through her perspective..

Her latest work, oil painting “Tribute to Street Artists,” is inspired by the street art she encountered while traveling in Santorini. The gleaming eyes on the walls under the sunlight, along with the distant characteristic dome church of Santorin were all mixed in this work, in which the art on the walls blends with the real world, making it difficult to distinguish between what is real and what is not. A similar expression is seen in her painting of “The Cruise.” While on a cruise in Jasper’s lakes, Huaying listened to the guide explain the origins of the area. The cacophony of voices and various scents inside the boat made her drowsy, while opening the window brought a refreshing breeze that rejuvenated her, blurring the lines between reality and dream.

She will continue to explore the essence of the world and reality through her painting, as well as her understanding of the value and meaning of life. Here is a special quote she loves: “Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is you-er than you.” -Dr. Suess.
