Zhou, Queen
In the vivid tapestry of human existence, I find my artistic voice through the abstraction of color, form, and the feminine body. My journey as an abstract artist has been an exploration of the unspoken language of emotions, the ever-changing hues of the human experience, and the profound connection between art and identity.
Color is my primary medium, and I wield it not merely as pigment on canvas but as a conduit for emotions. Each stroke and hue serves as a vessel to capture the intangible, to express the complexity of feelings that often elude verbalization. In my work, vibrant reds evoke passion, deep blues resonate with introspection, and gentle pastels whisper vulnerability. In the piece “blue chair”, the juxtaposition of the vibrant, colorful bodies against the black and white, distorted backgrounds, symbolized by the chair, reflects the duality of the female experience—how we often seek to present ourselves in a bright, glamorous light while grappling with the complexities, confusion, and vulnerability of real-life struggles. Through the work “spring”, I aim to capture the vibrant optimism and the pulsating desires of spring, a season that embodies renewal, vitality, and a longing for a brighter future. I aim to immerse the viewer in a symphony of colors, inviting them to experience the myriad emotions that color can convey.
The human form, especially the female body, holds a central place in my artistic exploration. I see it not as static but as a constantly evolving, fluid entity. My abstract representations of the female form aim to transcend conventional aesthetics, challenging preconceived notions of beauty and identity. In the piece “pink clouds”, clouds symbolize the body, representing the freedom of expression. I incorporate traditional Chinese elements, such as gold and silver leaf, into my work, merging the East with the West on my canvas to create an abstract fusion. These forms are in a state of perpetual flux, mirroring the ever-changing nature of femininity itself. In the piece “conversation”, I engage in a dialogue with myself, a profound conversation with the essence of my soul which is depicted as a nude body.
In “Emerge: The Colors of Femininity,” I invite you to delve into the depths of abstraction and join me in celebrating the vibrant spectrum of emotions and the timeless beauty of the female form. Through my art, I hope to inspire conversations, spark introspection, and awaken the senses.
Thank you for embarking on this artistic journey with me.
